Joining Ginny for her weekly Yarn Along
~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr.
This week I’m listening to The Hunger Games audiobook. I know this is a popular book and that the movie is coming out soon but I had no idea what the book was about until I started it. I rarely read the backs of books, I find it spoils the story for me. I like to dive in head first and learn what its all about once I get going.
I’m about halfway through the cd’s and am enjoying it although it is completely different to what I imagined it would be like. It kind of shocked me at first when I realized it was in a sense a Gladiator theme.
Here’s the blurb from GoodReads
*In a future North America, where the rulers of Panem maintain control through an annual televised survival competition pitting young people from each of the twelve districts against one another, sixteen-year-old Katniss’s skills are put to the test when she voluntarily takes her younger sister’s place.*
I started a new sweater! Preita gifted me her gorgeous new pattern Outlaw. I knew I wanted to knit it immediately if only there was something in the stash that would work. I started swatching with some zenith but the fabric was just waaaay too drapey and I knew I wanted something sturdy to hold the hood up. I had been holding on this to knit another Classic Raglan with but I didn’t really have any other options for Outlaw so I ended up caving and casting on with it. It’s not my first colour choice for it but when working with stash yarns you’ve just gotta use what’s available. It also helped that I couldn’t really picture me in the sweater in a specific colour either like I normally do.
Reading anything good? Got any new knits planned? Do tell!
