I’m delighted to be part of a blog/podcast tour bringing you a review of The Scrumptious Collection 3!
A gorgeous collection of 13 designs using FyberspatesScrumptious yarn that comes in a variety of colours and from lace weight to chunky. The designs include 3 sweaters, 2 cardigans and 8 accessories.
If you follow the tour you will likely see these fabulous designs several times over but today I wanted to highlight my favourites. The designs that jumped out at me right away begging to be knit.
The patterns that immediately caught my attention were the Divelish Hat and Mittens by Rachel Coopey. It must be said that I may have a little knitting crush on Coopey’s work and it has gotten to the point where I can spot a Coopey knit before I see her name. I knew right away that these beautiful patterns were Rachel’s and they immediately joined my long list of Coopey designs I must knit.
The Divelishpatterns are knit with Scrumptious 4ply, in the colourways Slate and Natural. The Scrumptious base is 45% silk 55% merino so you can imagine how delicious these accessories are to wear. I actually ordered the same base but in the Cherry colourway to knit the Amberwell Shawl for the first Knit East Swap several years ago. It was fun to try out a silk base for the first time and it blocked like a dream!
You would think that these 2 fair isle designs were a pretty great addition to the collection but Rachel didn’t stop there, she has another 3 designs in the book!
The Lerryn Mittens by Rachel Coopey caught my eye as well. They are knit with Scrumptious DK and would definitely come in handy right now in the deep freeze we are experiencing. I love the combination of different textures used in this design.
This next one is just cosy!
A bulky weight cabled sweater with cowl neck and roomy, extra long sleeves, just what my needles are craving. I love everything about this one, especially the colour! In fact the entire Scrumptious line has such brilliant saturated colours I don’t think you could go wrong choosing any of them. Larigan is one of those sweaters you can dress up or dress down, a must to be eligible to become part of my wardrobe these days.
Lastly I took a shine to this little cardi.
Rosemorran Cardigan by Belinda Boaden
Such a classic shaped little cardigan with an all over lace pattern that would make a sweet addition to any wardrobe. You could knit Rosemorran with a neutral shade of Scrumptious 4ply for a cardigan that will go with just about anything or add a pop of colour to brighten up your wardrobe. I think maybe one of each is in order but whatever you choose this little cardigan will always be in style.
